Action starts in Clonakilty on Saturday morning

CRAIG Breen has given the Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally the big thumbs up ahead of this weekend’s action that revs into life on Saturday morning.

Former Citroen WRC driver Waterford’s Craig Breen, who won the Galway International Rally at the beginning of February, likes what he has seen of the Clonakilty event so far.

‘I am seriously impressed. I don’t know anywhere else in the country where you will get roads that will flow as well as that, there are not so many junctions, they are nice flowing stages and a decent enough surface. It’s so compact as well. It really has got it all,’ Breen said on Thursday night at the open forum in Clonakilty.

‘There are 30 R5 cars and there are not many, if any, regional championships in the world that can host a field like that so it’s great to be a part of it.’

For the first time, the West Cork Rally is a counting round of the British Rally Championship.
