Investigation ongoing into post-match fight at Carbery JAFC final

CARBERY junior A football champions Kilmacabea and runners-up Tadhg MacCarthaigh will be without key players for their first-round Cork JAFC ties on Saturday due to the ongoing investigation into the post-match brawl at the recent divisional decider.

There were nasty scenes at the end of the Carbery JAFC final in Drimoleague with players from both sides involved, as well as supporters and mentors.

The Carbery GAA Board has acted quickly, hitting both clubs with hefty fines and suspensions.

The Southern Star understands that both clubs are appealing their fines, believed to be €3,000 each, as well as appealing the proposed suspensions to players.

An appeals’ hearing will not take place until early next week, meaning both clubs will be without those players for Saturday’s Cork JAFC games, as they can’t play while investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, Caheragh are playing Delaneys in Enniskeane while Kilmacabea meet Fr O'Neill's in Kilmurry.
