X Factor's Mary Byrne for Kilmurry fundraiser

X FACTOR sensation Dubliner Mary Byrne will sing in Ovens as part of a fundraising concert for the Kilmurry Historical and Archaeological Association.

Mary, who will sing at the Eire Og pavilion, will join Kilmurry parish singers and Newcestown Comhaltas, at 8pm on Saturday, September 21st.

Her story is the stuff of fairytales and movies. She’s the Tesco supermarket checkout lady who took a chance at the age of 50 to audition for the UK’s biggest TV talent show, X Factor. Although she was pipped for a place in the 2010 final, she had already won the hearts of millions with her big, warm personality and powerhouse voice. 

And when she finally got her life-changing break in the world of show business, Mary, a bright and ambitious woman with a wealth of life experience under her belt, was determined to make the most of it.

She has since performed for Queen Elizabeth during the State visit to Ireland, and shared the stage with Neil Diamond in front of 55,000 fans at the Aviva Stadium.

She has also performed all over Ireland, the UK and Europe, and is a regular performer in the USA in theatres and on luxury cruises.

Having achieved multi-platinum status on her music albums, she has just released her 4th album, Mary Byrne Sings the 60s.

She followed her dream of acting on stage when she performed on the West End touring production of Grease.

Her stage career continues this year as she stars in the hilarious comedy theatre show Dirty Dusting, which tours Ireland in November.

Mary was recently honoured to be made an ambassador of the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes for sick children. Never shy of a challenge, she bravely abseiled down one of Dublin’s tallest buildings for the foundation. She also featured as a leader on Celebrity Operation Transformation.
