County Council shortlisted for seven awards

Cork County Council has been shortlisted in a total of seven categories for the 2019 Excellence in Local Government Awards. 

CORK County Council has been shortlisted in a total of seven categories for the 2019 Excellence in Local Government Awards. 

The shortlisting for the 16th annual national awards held in conjunction the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government was announced by Chambers Ireland.

The awards feature 16 categories, showcasing best practice in local government and recognising the skills, hard work, innovation and enthusiasm within local government that can often go unrecognised. This year over 80 projects across Ireland have been shortlisted.

Cork County Council projects shortlisted in the seven award categories include Blackwater and Creativity for Supporting Active Communities, Teen Talk for Health & Wellbeing, Bridge to Mass Challenge for Promoting Economic Development, Avoncore Estate Regeneration for Sustainable Environment, Cork County Library’s A Sound Initiative for Best Library Service, the West Cork Fit-Up Theatre Festival for Sustaining the Arts and the Community Fund Scheme for Outstanding Initiative through the Municipal Districts.

The winners will be announced at the 16th annual ceremony on November 28th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry. 

Awards will be presented for excellence in 16 different categories and one local authority will then be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year 2019.
