ROMANCE is certainly in the air in Courtmacsherry as David O’Driscoll from Ballincollig and Niamh O’Brien from Bishopstown got engaged on the Fuchsia Walk last Saturday prior to Courtmacsherry Regatta.

A regular visitor to Courtmacsherry since her childhood, Niamh has always had a fond spot for the Fuchsia Walk.

And it’s the second week in succession that a love story has strong attachments to Courtmacsherry.

Last week The Southern Star broke the story of the relationship between county mayor Cllr Christopher O’Sullivan (FF) and Social Democrat Cllr Holly Cairns.

Cllr O’Sullivan also admitted that Courtmacsherry holds a special place in his heart as it was there he got his first ever kiss.

His heart-warming stories were even reflected in the parade at the festival, when one of the floats was dubbed the ‘Love Shack’, in reference to the Cllr O’Sullivan’s ‘love affair’ with the town.
