'No Swim' notice issued for Coolmain Beach

Cork County Council has issued a 'No Swim' notice at Coolmain Beach due to high numbers of intestinal enterococci bacteria recorded there.

Cork County Council is advising the public not to swim at the popular Coolmain Beach just outside Kilbrittain due to high numbers of intestinal enterococci  bacteria recorded there,

The HSE has advised that a advisory notice asking the public not to swim be put in place and will remain on display at the beach until water quality is deemed satisfactory.

'The Council is carrying out further sampling and full results will be available on Monday August 12th,' said a Council spokesperson.

 Results will be published online at www. beaches.ie, www.corkcoco.ie, @Corkcoco on Twitter and publicised in the media.

This is the second 'no swim' notice issued this week as a similar notice was issued in recent days for an area off Whiddy Island near Bantry.
