Fiona brings ambassador to visit Cork

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ireland His Excellency Erlan Idrissov recently paid a visit to Cork.

AMBASSADOR of Kazakhstan to Ireland His Excellency Erlan Idrissov recently paid a visit to Cork which was arranged by Fountainstown-born campaigner Fiona Corcoran, founder of The Greater Chernobyl Cause. 

The group have been active in Kazakhstan since 1999.

The Kazakh diplomat met with Cork’s lord mayor John Sheehan, William O’Brien of William O’Brien Group, president of Cork Chamber Paula Cogan and John Mullins, chairman, Port of Cork. 

While in Cork, the Kazakh ambassador proposed initiatives to develop regional cooperation, including at Chamber level, as well as co-operation in agricultural science, genomics and the creation of joint high-tech enterprises in Kazakhstan, taking into account the potential of exporting to the Eurasian Economic Union  and Chinese markets.

Fiona mentioned that her charity encourages international trade between Ireland and the countries where they operate.
