Eagle's long absence left room for new suitor!

A WHITE-tailed eagle who disappeared from Glengarrif’s nature reserve in January and was feared dead has been spotted alive and well.

However, her partner has taken up with another younger female in her absence.

In fact the National Parks and Wildlife Services conservation ranger for Beara thinks this ‘younger woman’ may even have driven her away.

But in a possible act of revenge, ranger Clare Heardman said the spurned eagle was with a younger male when sighted recently.

She tweeted: ‘Seven years ago white-tailed Eagle D settled in Glengarriff but she disappeared in Jan 2019, feared dead. Today I found her roosting in this tree 25km away! Her mate is still in Glengarriff with a younger female, who probably drove her off.’
