Millions will be switching off for Earth Hour 2019 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm

Climate Action Minister, Richard Bruton, is encouraging people to ‘switch off’ as part of Earth Hour 2019. Around the world millions of people will be by switching off their lights between the hours of 8:30pm and 9:30pm to help preserve our planet and nature. Earth Hour will also be observed by those working in public buildings, such as the Rock Of Cashel, Trim Castle, the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and the Custom House. Minister Bruton said: ‘Earth Hour is a great opportunity to reflect on our individual impact on the environment. We have a very small window of opportunity, whereby we can change the trajectory and set ourselves on a sustainable footing. ‘We must make urgent changes. I am determined that the government will take the lead, but we will need each individual person to also contribute.’
