Cope fundraisers seek new members

Having raised over €32,000 for Cope Foundation last year the hardworking members of the Skibbereen fundraising committee are already planning events for this year.

And they’re keen for new members to get involved in the rewarding work. 

The committee recently held their AGM at the West Cork Hotel and reflected on a year of incredible support for their fundraising efforts. They also commended the local people, businesses and other organising committees that chose to support Cope Foundation in 2018. 

They are already planning their events for 2019 which as well as including the new Flowers of Hope activity also includes church gate collections, coffee morning and a flag day.

Chief executive of Cope Foundation, Sean Abbott attended the AGM and congratulated the committee on their boundless energy and commitment to fundraising for Cope Foundation. He acknowledged the great support the committee has garnered in the Skibbereen area over the years and how this has helped Cope Foundation do so much for so many.

He also spoke to the committee about the exciting changes that are happening in service provision for people with intellectual disabilities or autism and the integral role that fundraising plays in the organisation.

Cope Foundation now supports 2,350 people with intellectual disabilities or autism to live life their way across its network of 69 locations.
