A District Court Judge has described KBC Bank as ‘the worst bank in Ireland', when it comes to the tracker mortgage scandal, and has refused to hear their case.

A DISTRICT Court Judge has described KBC Bank as ‘the worst bank in Ireland’, when it comes to the tracker mortgage scandal, and has refused to hear their case.

At a civil case hearing at Bandon District Court last week, between William Cahalane trading as Cahalane Service Station and KBC Bank Ireland PLC, over a sum amounting to €1,500, Judge James McNulty said that KBC are the bank that ‘can’t get enough’.

‘When I think of KBC Bank, I think of the bank that can’t get enough,’ Judge McNulty said, as both legal teams were about to present their cases.

‘They are the worst bank in Ireland when it comes to the tracker mortgage scandal and I am glad to say that I have had no dealing with them,’ he added.

‘I remember the case of the man who committed suicide at Priory Hall in Dublin and KBC Bank sent a letter to his widow, just a few days after the tragic incident, telling her that she still owed them money,’ commented Judge McNulty.

‘When the banks were called before the people of Ireland, they couldn’t even say how many tracker mortgages they had.

‘Last year I wrote an article, which was published in a national newspaper, about the tracker scandal, where I was very critical of the banks, which include KBC,’ he said.

‘Therefore I cannot hear this case and this is probably for the best,’ Judge McNulty said.

Judge McNulty also said that he hoped members of the press would be present at the case when it comes before the courts again on Friday, April 12th, for mention only, while another judge is assigned to hear the case.
