RIVERSTICK-Kinsale AC, Kinsale Triathlon Club and Kinsale Community School are hosting a 10-mile road race on Sunday, February 24th, at 12 noon, when they will welcome athletes of all ability levels who wish to run the classic 10-mile distance in a beautiful setting.

The race start and finish will be at Kinsale Community School. The organisers have attracted a huge number of entries, around 700 and rising, and the driving force behind the event, Jeremiah Callenan, says that  it will also be a day of remembrance where the runners will take a moment to remember Jamie McCarthy who was a great person, friend, clubmate and fellow runner to many. Jamie tragically passed away on February 14th, 2018.

The last mile of the 10 mile road race is called Jamie’s Mile in his honour. Jamie loved to run, train and race. He always represented his club Riverstick-Kinsale AC, schools (Kinsale Community School and North Mon, Cork) and university (Costal Carolina) and country at the highest possible level in sport.

Jamie honoured was a member of the Irish junior team that won European cross-country silver, in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2004. A very rare but wonderful achievement for our country.
