SKIBBEREEN Ballroom Dance Committee recently held a fundraising dance at the West Cork Hotel in aid of Irish Community Rapid Response Air Ambulance, which is based close to Millstreet in North Cork.

This is a vital lifesaving service, offering fast access to advanced clinical interventions at the roadside by highly-trained pre-hospital emergency care medical personnel.

Most critically, the Community Air Ambulance can bring the casualty to the hospital that best suits their life-saving needs, not just to the closest geographically.

The Ballroom Committee was delighted to present a cheque for €2,170.85 to John Kearney, CEO, and Philomena Maguire, board member of Irish Community Rapid Response Air Ambulance. John explained how important fundraising was and explained that they recently journeyed from their base at Rathcoole to Bantry in approximately 12 minutes and pointed out that, with our roads network, no vehicle of any kind would reach a hospital in that time.

Skibbereen Ballroom Dance Committee thanked all those who contributed in any way on the night to make it such a success and wished John Kearney, John Finnegan, Philomena Maguire and all the air ambulance team success in what they are doing.
