Lots of interest in new homes at Clogheen

WORK has started on the first major housing development in Clonakilty for more than 10 years. 

The development, called An Sruthán Beag (small stream) at Clogheen, comprises 99 houses on 14 acres, making it a low density estate. 

There’s a mix of three and four-bed detached and semi-detached homes being built and, according to estate agent Martin Kelleher, who is handling the sales, there’s already a lot of interest from potential buyers. The first of the homes will be coming on-stream late spring next year, with the others following on into summer, he said. 

‘These are A rated homes with things like triple glazing and high-end finishes,’ said Martin. ‘The three beds will cost approximately €290,000 while the four-bed detached will be priced between €360,000 and €450,000, depending on size.’

The houses are being jointly built by Michael Dempsey Construction and Herbert Buttimer. The scheme qualifies for the Help to Buy scheme, where first-time buyers qualify for up to 5% of the purchase price back.
