NETWORK Ireland West Cork recently held a speed networking event in The Square Kitchen in Dunmanway.

The event was facilitated by networking guru Raymond Kelleher of Trigon Hotels.

At the event, Mr Kelleher said the power and purpose of networking cannot be underestimated. ‘It’s a very cost-effective sales and marketing tool for your business. It’s a great way to relationship-build. However, it does involve time and patience and determination and not everyone feels comfortable networking. There are many forms, but consider the networking options that best suit your personality and indeed your business.’

Ciara Byrne, president of Network Ireland West Cork, added: ‘There’s no denying the power a strong professional network can have over your career success. When it’s done well, networking will not only help you land a job faster, but it will give you a competitive edge throughout every stage of your career.’

Ms Byrne added that experts agree that the most connected people are often the most successful. ‘When you invest in your relationships — professional and personal — it can pay you back in dividends throughout the course of your career. Networking will help you develop and improve your skillset, stay on top of the latest trends in your industry, and keep a pulse on the job market’ and more. ‘In the last year, I have really learnt this first-hand,’ she said.
