Seasalt has always enjoyed being involved in its local communities and its relationship with Clonakilty is no different. The shop will provide around 10 jobs to the people of the town and will contribute to three local charities.

CORNISH clothing brand Seasalt opened its first shop in this country and outside the UK, in Clonakilty earlier this week creating around 10 new jobs.

The company says it was drawn to the town’s vibrant character, stunning beaches and relaxed way of life.

They said it was a natural fit for Seasalt, as the Cornish brand draws so many links with the country, from its dramatic coastline and landscapes to its renowned creative heritage.

TheSeasalt in-house team of fashion and textile designers, fine artists and illustrators, creates all collections from studios overlooking Falmouth Bay in Cornwall.

Seasalt Founder, Neil Chadwick, remembers family holidays to Ireland and said: ‘We're delighted to be able to bring Seasalt to Ireland. It's an exciting new venture for us – Clonakilty is a brilliant location with many similarities to our Cornish towns, from its rich Celtic culture to the breathtaking scenery. We're really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new shop.’

Seasalt is known for its enduring quality and is crafted from natural fabrics and yarns as much as possible, such as Soil Association organic cotton, merino, bamboo and linen. The clothing range offers a wide choice of fits and lengths, reflecting the inclusivity of the brand, as well as a plus, petite and small menswear collection.

Seasalt has always enjoyed being involved in its local communities, and its relationship with Clonakilty is no different. The shop will provide around 10 jobs to the people of the town, and this team will nominate three local charities with which they will spend a day volunteering in 2019, and on top of this, one of these charities will receive a donation of €500.

The shop fit in Clonakilty was designed by Seasalt’s store experience team, who are also based in Falmouth. The interior design includes the architectural features of the building and generates a spacious shop floor using natural slate and oak to the floor and exposed brickwork and shiplap to the walls. The colour palate is a neutral one to allow for the vivid patterns and colours of the clothing and accessories.

Last Wednesday’s opening of the shop on Pearse Street saw plenty of treats and discounts.
