NETWORK Ireland West Cork celebrated its first year anniversary recently when over 100 members gathered in Skibbereen to hear an address from guest speaker Dee Forbes, the director general of RTÉ.

Ms Forbes, a native of Drimoleague, launched the branch in March 2018 and was joined at the anniversary by Kevin Buckley, CEO at Spearline and Deirdre Waldron, past president of Network Ireland and partner at Fuzion Communications in Cork city.

Ms Forbes, who herself is celebrating nearly 25 years in broadcasting, said the branch’s ‘be fearless’ theme resonated with her because you must be constantly open to change in media today.  She added: ‘It is better to face challenges head-on, understand what scares you and master it, this will give you your voice and make you feel like a warrior to face challenges to be a success.’

Speaking at the event, Kevin Buckley said he also had to ‘be fearless’ along his journey to success with Spearline. And he advised members to be encouraging and inclusive to others along the journey.
