Gone fishing: Puffin leaves Long Strand

THE Fish Basket in Rosscarbery is taking over what was the Puffin Café on Long Strand.

In a strongly worded Instagram post, Puffin’s owners, husband and wife team Spencer and Kate Treacy,  announced they were closing after three ‘long summers.’ 

The seaside café was known for its pizzas and picturesque location. 

The post read: ‘Au revoir to the good folk who understood … you were jewels hidden beneath the muck and madness. And to all you entitled begrudgers … the palpable relief of not having to serve you is massive. After three long summers of witnessing humanity…it does leave you depressed at our chances on this planet.’

The post continued: ‘The so called community sat on its hands for 15 years, leaving the building on Long Strand to rack and ruin. It took people with vision and understanding  to bring it back to life.’

Spencer and Kate declined to comment beyond the post saying they had ‘had their say’.
