West Cork Business & Tourism Awards 2018

                                     

The Southern Star is proud to announce the launch of what promises to be West Cork’s premier business awards. Our region has so many successful and innovative businesses, organisations and business people across different sectors and markets that we feel there is a need to highlight and celebrate some of the best in class activity that emanates from West Cork.

 

The Awards Categories

 

- There are 11 awards categories that businesses can enter

- Entry to the awards is free of charge

- Businesses may enter up to 2 different awards categories

- Three companies will be shortlisted in each award.

- An overall winner will be chosen from each awards category

- An overall ‘West Cork Business of the Year 2018’ will be chosen from all of the individual category winners

- In addition there will be a special Mayor’s Award for ‘Outstanding West Cork Business Ambassador’ which will be awarded to an individual whom the judges feel has made a significant and extraordinary contribution to business life in West Cork

1. Best Marketing Campaign/Initiative

2. Best New Business

3. Best Not for Profit Organisation

4. Best Use of Social Media/Digital

5. Best Customer Service

6. Best Artisan Food Producer

7. Best Small to Medium Enterprise

 

Tourism Awards Categories

8. Best Marketing Campaign/Initiative

9. Best West Cork Festival

10. Best Innovative/Unique Small Tourism Business

11. Outstanding West Cork Tourism Experience

 

The Awards Process

 

Stage 1

ENTRIES

Entries will be accepted until midnight Monday 1st October. Enter on line or by post (see next section). Please include a phone number and email address in your submission for judges to get in touch if additional questions arise.

 

Stage 2

SHORTLIST OF FINALISTS

Our team of judges will now review all submissions. Their task is to get to a shortlist of 3 finalists per category. Finalists can expect to hear from us from early October.

 

Stage 3

PITCH NIGHT

All finalists will be invited to a ‘Dragon’s Den style’ pitch night hosted by AIB in Bandon week commencing Monday 29th October. This is your opportunity for you or your team to really sell yourself and your business to the judges, via

a short ‘3-minute pitch’. The judges will then decide the ultimate winners for each category to be announced at a Gala Awards Dinner in November.

 

Stage 4

SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT

The Southern Star will publish a 40 page special supplement to be inserted in the Southern Star which will profile all the shortlisted finalists for each awards category. This will also be heavily promoted on-line.

 

Stage 5

THE FINALS

All finalists will receive 2 complimentary tickets to a black-tie Gala Awards Dinner in West Cork. The dinner, which will be held in November, will be attended by businesses, business people and tourism organisations throughout West Cork, eager to learn who the winners are. The overall ‘West Cork Business of the Year 2018’ and ‘Outstanding West Cork Business Ambassador’ will also be announced at the dinner

- The overall ‘West Cork Business of the Year’ winner will receive publicity via The Southern Star and across our digital media plus a framed certificate and trophy, two free full page advertisements in The Southern Star newspaper and two free ‘promotions’ via our social media
