Brilliant Bal crowned champs

Ballinascarthy's Aidan O'Donovan is tackled by Kilmeen's Brian Keohane during the Clona Milk U21 B football championship final at Enniskeane on Sunday.

BALLINASCARTHY’S 28-year wait for the South West U21 B football championship is over after Sunday’s 1-10 to 0-10 victory against Kilmeen in the final played in Enniskeane.

It means that the club is now holders of both South West U21 football and hurling titles.

Bal had led 0-7 to 0-3 at the break and a second-half goal proved crucial, pushing them 1-9 to 0-5 ahead before a stirring comeback from Kilmeen in the final ten minutes. More match details to follow.

Amazingly, Bal trainer Teddy Holland was also in charge of last Bal U21 football team to win SW U21 B title, in 1986.
