Rising rugby star named to start in Saturday's Six Nations clash

SKIBBEREEN teenager Enya Breen will make her Ireland and Women’s Six Nations debut against France on Saturday evening.

The talented 19-year-old has been named in Adam Griggs’ starting team and will replace the injured Michelle Claffey in the centre alongside Sene Naoupu.

Enya’s inclusion is one of five changes on the Ireland team from the narrow defeat to Italy two weeks ago in Parma.

Learning her trade with Bantry Bay RFC, Enya made the step-up from Munster U18s to the province’s women’s team in 2018 and slotted straight in at full back where she caught the eye.

Munster women’s head coach Laura Guest said: ‘Enya is one of the most exciting players that I have seen in a long time.’

Enya is the daughter of Ian and Catherine and is a second year physio student at UL. Ireland’s match against France will be broadcast live by RTE on Saturday, with coverage beginning at 6.45pm.
