Bantry's three summer festivals generate over €3m to the town

BANTRY’S three summer festivals generate over €3m to the town.

That’s according to the latest economic impact study of the Bantry festivals by Professor Doyle of the Department of Economics at UCC.

He found that the West Cork Chamber Music festival, the Literary Festival and the Masters of Tradition are together worth €3.3m.

He further found that each euro invested in the festivals by the State brings a return of €7.66.

Last summer the three festivals sold well over 16,000 tickets to almost 5,000 people, a third of these audiences coming from abroad and another third from outside West Cork.

The 25th West Cork Chamber Music Festival will take place from June 26th to July 5th next year, West Cork Literary Festival from July 10th to July 17th and Masters of Tradition from August 19th to August 23rd.

The Bantry Festivals are funded by the Arts Council, Cork County Council and Failte Ireland.
