A NEW solicitor was formally introduced at Bantry District Court last Thursday.

Flor Murphy, of O’Donovan Murphy & Partners said: ‘There are not a lot of apprentices coming through or starting in West Cork, but we are pleased that Síne Enright has decided to stay.’

Ray Hennessy, who described himself as ‘the elder lemon’ of the West Cork Bar Association, was typically plain-speaking when he welcomed Síne, saying: ‘She might present as pretty and polite, but she is one tough cookie.’

Sgt Paul Kelly, for the prosecution, continued in a similarly light-hearted vein when he asked the new solicitor to ‘take it easy on us.’

The chief court clerk, Len MacCarthy, welcomed Síne and assured her of the assistance of the Court Services, whilst Judge James McNulty a humorous reference to the movie ‘Dancing with Wolves.’

Síne, the daughter of Jerry and Catherine Enright of Donemark in Bantry, qualified as a solicitor last November 2018, having completed her apprenticeship with O’Donovan Murphy & Partners.

Síne previously trained as a primary school teacher, and completed an MA at the University of London, before embarking on her law studies with the Law Society of Ireland.

She will be practising in the areas of residential and commercial conveyancing, probate and estate management and litigation.
