Work kicks off on new Carrigaline schools

THE development of a three-school campus which will accommodate over 1,000 pupils at Ardnacloghy, Carrigaline is underway.  

This development by the Cork Education and Training Board (Cork ETB) will include a Gaelcholáiste, Gaelscoil and SONAS Junior Primary School in a €20 million investment.

The first phase of works on site have commenced and include site enclosure and top soil removal, with plans commence the main phase of works in April 2018 with an expected completion date of December 2019.

Chief executive of Cork ETB, Ted Owens said: ‘This is another extremely positive development in servicing the educational needs of Carrigaline and its hinterland. The countdown is on, and we hope to have a fully functioning campus by December 2019. This has been a campaign which has now proven to be worth the considerable effort.We have already established the Gaelcholáiste in temporary accommodation, at Waterpark House, Carrigaline.’ 

 Donnchadh Ó Cronín, Príomhoide of Gaelcholáiste Charraig Uí Leighin  added: ‘It gives us great delight to announce this very important step in the construction of the Carrigaline Education Campus.
