County Mayor launches Barryroe Show

Barryroe Show 2019 was officially launched by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Christopher O' Sullivan, on Wednesday, June 12th last.

BARRYROE Show 2019 was officially launched by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Christopher O’ Sullivan, on Wednesday, June 12th last, in  the Courtmacsherry Hotel, 

Show chairperson John O’Brien welcomed everyone to the event. He spoke about the importance of community involvement in organising events like agricultural shows. 

Mr O’Brien thanked all those present, in particular Kitty and Catherine Cotter, representing the Irish Shows Association, and the local representative on the ISA, Dominic McArdle, as well as the ladies’ committee for the high-quality food they provide on show day. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors for their contribution towards the show. 

He highlighted the significant contribution made by Barryroe Co-Op, which is crucial to the running of the show. He gave a notable mention to joint secretaries Eileen Collins and Paul Finn, and treasurer Michael Whelton, thanking them for their enthusiasm and energy. Martin Walsh was thanked for the publicity he provides for the show annually and the Courtmacsherry Hotel for the fantastic reception provided for the launch. 

Mayor Christopher O’Sullivan spoke of his connection with agricultural shows over the years, in particular with the pony classes. He loves the summer show season and looks forward to it each year. 

He wished the show every success and ended his speech by officially launching the event, which takes place on July 13th.
