Scally's double victory at Best in Fresh awards

SCALLY’S Clonakilty has scored a double victory at the 13th annual ‘Best In Fresh’ Awards.

The SuperValu outlet won prizes for excellence in Fresh Food Retailing in a Large Supermarket and the Best Fresh Meat category.

‘Best In Fresh’ was established to recognise excellence in fresh food retailing and every year, it attracts entrants from across the Irish food retail sector including multiples, symbols, discounters and non-affiliated retailers.

The awards recognise retailers who have achieved particularly high standards across a range of categories, including fruit and veg, fresh meat and fish, bakery and dairy.

Selecting Scally’s as winners, the judges said: ‘Scally’s of Clonakilty excelled in all areas, from the high standards in terms of the product range available, to the presentation of the fresh food offerings, and the level of product knowledge displayed by the fresh team across all departments.’

They added: ‘We were particularly impressed with the extent to which Scally’s of Clonakilty was constantly innovating in all aspects of the fresh offering in-store.’

Awarding them the prize in the Best Fresh Meat category, the judges added: ‘Scally’s demonstrates high standards in the areas of range, presentation and product knowledge, and is clearly innovating in the way it presents produce in this very traditional category.’

Owner Eugene Scally said that the prizes were an acknowledgement of his team’s expertise and their commitment to striving for excellence in fresh food retail.

‘This year, the competition from other retailers was really intense, but what really helped us stand out from the crowd and go on to win both awards was our team’s commitment to excellence,’ he added.

‘We are very fortunate that our team always deliver to the highest standards and make sure that the local community gets the best service, product offering and value for money,’ he said.
