Rowa rows in with ‘Message in a Bottle'

ROWA Pharmaceuticals in Bantry has partnered with the town’s Lions Club to introduce an innovative scheme designed to help in the case of a health emergency within the home. 

Called ‘Message in a Bottle,’ it’s a simple idea that encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common place, eg a bottle, where emergency teams can easily access them. 

The project is supported nationally by Lions Clubs Ireland, the ambulance, fire brigade, gardaí, medical professionals, HSE, pharmacists and local authorities. 

How it works is straightforward: a person is given a plastic container complete with a personal information form and three self-adhesive green crosses.

In the event of an accident or incident within the home, the first responder/emergency services on the scene will be alerted to the bottle by the label on the door. The bottle can then be located by the attending service.

Rowa Pharmaceuticals is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and at last November’s inaugural Southern Star West Cork Business & Tourism Awards, the company was named overall West Cork Business of the Year.
