A LEADING Dublin-based aviation service provider has made a strategic decision to base segments of its growing services and workforce in the Ludgate hub in Skibbereen.

Six West is a global leader in the provision of high end aviation support services to the aircraft leasing and airline industry.

On a recent visit to the hub, Six West executive director Regina Mulready described Ludgate as a ‘nationally recognised name in Ireland’s business ecosystem and is a beacon to a company like Six West which is driving growth internally and seeking more efficient ways to grow outside of Dublin.’

A group of six staff are now based in Skibbereen, with that set to grow significantly over the coming years, and the company is interested in speaking with graduates in marketing, business development and project management going forward.

‘While a large part of our business takes place in the capital city, significant segments of our flight operations, customer support, accounting and quality management can be done more effectively in offices like the Ludgate. At the same time, we are really happy to provide exciting employment opportunities to skilled people outside of the large cities in Ireland,’ Regina explained.

Ludgate chief executive Adrienne Harrington said the goal was to facilitate the creation of 500 jobs in West Cork, contributing to a sustainable economy and community. ‘Working with Six West in their expansion is helping us to achieve that target,’ she said.

Regina added: ‘West Cork is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. We see this move as just the beginning of support for real growth and real employment in this lovely part of the world. We currently have six employees in the office here in Skibbereen, but we see that number growing significantly over the next few years. We will look forward to growing within the Ludgate community and will be watching with interest Ludgate’s expansion plans, as they will be key to our sustainability here in West Cork.’
