DUNMANWAY Town clinched the West Cork League PremierHiSpecCars.com Premier Division title in style – by beating last year’s champions, Riverside Athletic.

This is only the second time that the club has won the Premier Division crown, the first success coming in 2012.

Dunmanway, unbeaten in this league campaign, turned on the style to beat Riverside 4-1 last Sunday, a result that secures them the league title with one round of games to go.

John Healy scored twice and Keith Sheehan and Jerry McCarthy also got on the scoresheet for the Dunmanway men who have won 13 and drawn two of their 15 league games this season.

‘The two draws we’ve had came against Drinagh Rangers and we won all our other games so we have been very consistent all throughout this campaign,’ Dunmanway Town manager John Buckley said.

‘It got harder towards the end of the league because we had injury problems and the Dohenys started back training as well – so we’re delighted to get over the line and win the title again.’

New champions Dunmanway play their final league game at home to Clonakilty AFC this Sunday.

Meanwhile, Skibbereen are into the final of the Parkway Hotel/Maybury Coaches Cup after a 4-2 semi-final win against Bunratty United. John Hodnett scored a brace while Cian Coughlan also got on the scoresheet.

Nick Cole replied twice for Bunratty.

In a West Cork League U18 Cup quarter-final, Clonakilty AFC got the better of Bay Rovers 3-2.

Elsewhere the Irish Examiner Women’s League is gearing up for an exciting finale with Inter Kenmare three points ahead of Drinagh Rangers, who have a game in hand. Both teams won last weekend.

Drinagh Rangers thumped Bunratty United 12-0 with goals from Roisin O’Driscoll (4), Danielle Jackson (3), Carol Bateman (2), Laura Cooke, Claire Cooke and Danielle Carroll.

Inter Kenmare defeated Beara United 3-1, as Katie O’Shea, Caroline McCarthy and Michelle O’Sullivan-Casey scored for the winners. Beara replied with a Bernadette O’Sullivan penalty.
