THE Friday night lights will be swapped for Saturday afternoon sunshine this weekend as Cork City aim to make a big statement in the race for the SSE Airticity League of Ireland Premier Division title.

With the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier with Wales taking precedence, all domestic league games are moved to Saturday and it could hardly be bigger for City, with Dundalk the visitors to Turner’s Cross.

John Caulfield’s side have won their first four league games, and were 3-0 winners against the three-time league champions when they met at the Cross prior to the start of the campaign.

Star attacker Seán Maguire has been in excellent form, scoring both in the 2-1 win away to Shamrock Rovers on St Patrick’s Day. Having got the winner in the FAI Cup final when City beat Stephen Kenny’s side to deny them the double, he will again be the key figure as the Rebel Army look to open up a six-point lead on their rivals.

A blow for City is that influential midfielder Greg Bolger is ruled out with a calf injury while captain John Dunleavy, who missed almost all of last season, will be assessed before kick-off as he seeks to shake off a knock.

The game, which will be televised live on RTÉ2, kicks off at 3pm.
