Bandon will compete in two Cork county finals in coming weeks

BY KIERAN McCARTHY

BANDON booked their place in the county intermediate football final after a 2-13 to 2-8 semi-final win against Cill na Martra on Saturday afternoon.

The Muskerry team had beaten Bandon in round one in April but there was no stopping the West Cork men here as they led 2-7 to 1-2 at the break – Adam Murphy scored a great goal in the 17th minute before Mark Sugrue converted a penalty just before the break.

Bandon bossed this game until the final five minutes before Cill na Martra – whose two goals came from penalties – staged a late rally. Cill na Marta’s first point from play came in the 57th minute.

Millstreet and Rockchapel meet in the other semi-final on Sunday.

It now means that Bandon are through to the county premier intermediate hurling final and the county intermediate football final – great times for the Carbery club.
