Dohenys’ Eoin Lavers will fly the Dunmanway flag in Saturday’s All-Ireland U21 football final as Cork play Mayo, but let’s hope he doesn’t repeat his ‘feat’ from an U12 West Cork final many years ago!

How would your best friend describe you? Contagious.

Who was your sporting hero when you were 10 years old? I don’t have to look too far for that, my older brother Matthew was always the one who inspired me.

Tell us a funny story from your childhood: I once scored an own goal in an U12 West Cork final that we went on to win. We saved a penalty, I was the first man in after it and the ball came at me fast and awkward. There were three Clon lads coming in behind me and that ‘clearance’ was not my best effort, to be fair. I still get an awful doing over it.

Where would you recommend for a weekend away? Santa Ponsa.

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? A football, Will Ferrell and a fishing rod.

If you could go back in time, where would you go and why? Back to 1975 to watch the Thrilla in Manila, in the Philipines, just to meet Muhammed Ali – the man’s a great.

What song best describes you? Nickelback’s Rockstar. No need to explain that answer, is there?

What is your least favourite word? Passionate.

What’s your favourite knock-knock joke? Knock knock. Who’s there? Someone. Someone who? Someone that can’t reach the doorbell.

What’s the world’s greatest invention? The wheel. I can’t go wrong with that.

If you know you’d die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day? With the lads in Las Vegas to go out with a bang …

A penguin walks into the room wearing a sombrero, why is he wearing it and what does he say? The only reason he is wearing a sombrero is because he has had one too many (a nicer way of saying he’s cut) and he shouts ‘Up the Dohenys!’ of course.
