Just like the Cork camogie team, your Southern Star has now won a prestigious national title!

THE Southern Star has won the Mick Dunne Memorial Award for Local Paper of the Year for 2015.

The Southern Star has been selected for this prestigious Camogie Association award for its ‘fantastic work and contribution to camogie’ in the past 12 months, and Sports Editor Kieran McCarthy will now attend the Referees, Volunteer and Media Awards dinner on February 20th in Croke Park to receive the award.

‘We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Local Paper of the Year award,’ Sports Editor Kieran McCarthy commented.

‘We are continually looking to improve our sports coverage, and last year we were delighted to bring on board eight-time camogie All-Star and four-time All-Ireland winning Cork and Barryroe great Jennifer O’Leary as our camogie columnist. She has been a fantastic addition and has helped to take our camogie coverage to the next level.'
