GER McCARTHY REPORTS

KILMICHAEL Rovers needed an Alan Murphy strike to see off Baltimore following a hard-fought West Cork League O’Brien WaterServices.com Division 1 clash at the Baltimore Road on Sunday morning.

The visitors emerged narrow 1-0 winners thanks to a lone first-half strike on a weekend Baltimore and Kilmichael’s fixture was the only WCL game to survive the atrocious weather conditions.

Alan Murphy took advantage of slack Baltimore defending and made room in a crowded penalty area before firing into the net to secure all three points for the visitors after 23 minutes.

Baltimore pressed hard for an equaliser either side of the break but couldn’t conjure up a goal despite Stephen Leonard, Conor Harrington and Noel Collins’ best attempts.
