File Formats Accepted
TXT; EPS; TIFF; JPEG; ADS; PDF; QuarkXPress v6.5 documents
Text Files
Save in Text Only format with file name and extension: e.g. TXT = filename.txt
Digital Images And Graphics
Minimum resolution = 150ppi @ 100%
Convert to the correct colour space:
e.g. Grayscale or CMYK
Save with file name and extension:
TIFF = filename.tif - do not use 'LZW' compression
EPS = filename.eps - include Mac Preview and Binary compression
JPEG = filename.jpeg - use 'quality' compression
EPS Format
Link or Embed all imported graphic or images Embed all fonts or convert to outline
QuarkXpress Document Format
Embed all fonts - Converted to the correct colour space, e.g. Grayscale or CMYK
Use the 'Collect For Output' feature from Quarks File Menu, this will ensure all Ad elements are linked and updated.
Collect the Ad and elements into a 'New Folder' to include a report.
QuarkXPress document = 'filename'.qxd
PDF Format
Supplied files should comply with PDFx1 newspaper publishing standards
Single page composite Greyscale or CMYK are required
Use Acrobat Distiller with newspaper publishing 'joboptions' to created PDF files
Embedded fonts must be subsetted at 100%
Helpful Hints
File names should be 'short' and must NOT contain parentheses such as brackets or back-slashes.
Ensure Ads are converted to Greyscale (Mono) or CMYK and comply with newspaper publishing standards.
Ensure that mono advertisements use the colour black and tints of black.
All colour adverts should use process colour 'Only' (i.e. CMYK based colours) or tints of process colour.
Do not use 'low resolution' images or graphics.
Embed all fonts.
Create PDF file via Acrobat Distiller from postscript files with newspaper publishing 'joboptions'.
Fax or e-mail a PDF visual proof.
