A FUNDRAISING table quiz for the Taste of West Cork Food Festival is offering a great collection of prizes, including flights to Paris and several Irish hotel stays.

The quiz will be held at the new Tanyard Bar in Skibbereen on Friday February 9th. Among the great prizes on offer are two return tickets for the new Air France flights to Paris, generously donated by Cork Airport. There will also be overnight stays to be won in the award-winning Vienna Woods Hotel Glanmire, Celtic Ross Hotel Rosscarberry, Beara Coast Hotel Castletownbere and Fernhill House Hotel Clonakilty.

Inchydoney Hotel and Spa have donated a spa voucher, while there will also be vouchers from restaurants including Kalbos Café, Skibbereen, Casey’s of Baltimore and Richy’s Restaurant and R Café in Clonakilty. Local Skibbereen shops, including Violette, Field’s, Drinagh and Thornhills Electrical, have all lent their support to the festival, with a selection of vouchers and prizes.

The event hopes to help fundraise and promote this year’s Taste of West Cork festival, which runs from September 7th to 16th.

Festival chairperson Helen Collins said it was so encouraging to see all the local support and recognition for the festival.  ‘This year is a big year for A Taste of West Cork, following on from winning the Restaurant Association of Ireland’s 2017 No 1 Foodie Destination and a very successful 2017 festival, this year’s festival is going to be even bigger.’

Strengthening ties with the US and highlighting the new Norwegian airline links with Boston, there will be four international guest chefs from the Boston and Providence area, and a number of other big name chefs will be making guest appearances in local restaurants.

‘In addition to a huge festival line-up, we are planning an international launch in the USA in May or June and the programme is already well underway,’ Helen added. ‘We would really appreciate the community coming out and supporting us in this fundraising table quiz – gather four friends together and enjoy a fun night out with the possibility of winning a wonderful raffle prize,’ she suggested.

A Taste of West Cork Food Festival table quiz takes place in the Tanyard Bar, Main Street, Skibbereen on Friday 9th February at 8pm. A table of four is €40.  To book a table call 087 665 5567 or email [email protected]
