EYERIES will be cheering on local man Mick Brennan, when he takes part in the National Lottery Winning Streak game show on RTE One this Saturday – thanks to a scratch card he got at the Christmas bingo.

Mick said he has been blown away by the support and congratulations he has received from locals and friends, after he was selected to appear on the iconic game show last Saturday night. And he even got a special mention from the local priest at Mass the next morning.

The 71-year-old retired commercial truck driver was settled in front of the TV for the evening with his wife Regina when he heard his name called out by Winning Streak presenters, Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy.

He said the feeling was ‘completely surreal’ and seconds later the phone rang and did not stop for two hours with well-wishers and family calling to congratulate him. Mick had a good feeling about his Winning Streak scratch card as he posted his three stars, a premonition that will come to fruition on Saturday.

Mick is proud to come from the village ‘at the end of the Wild Atlantic Way’.  He says he has the Eyeries Community Care group to credit for his upcoming appearance on the show as he got the scratch card at a Christmas bingo event they ran where everyone got a Winning Streak scratch card.

Now that he is retired, Mick and his wife Regina have time to share common interests which include gardening and walking in the Beara hills.

The couple are looking forward to the journey up to RTE in Dublin this weekend.
