Bantry, Clon, Skibb and Bandon at greatest risk of flooding this evening

Met Eireann has issued a Level Orange Weather Warning with strong winds and potential coastal flooding for County Cork, especially in the west of the county, from 3pm today to 3am on Wednesday 17th January.

Met Eireann has issued a Level Orange Weather Warning with strong winds and potential coastal flooding for County Cork, especially in the west of the county, from 3pm today to 3am on Wednesday 17th January.

Cork County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team has convened in response to the weather warning and assessed the information.

Coastal flooding is a possibility, with Bantry, Clonakilty, Skibbereen and Bandon identified as being at greatest risk.  Cork County Council is closely monitoring this with response crews on notice and on standby.

Drivers are cautioned to take care due to potential flooding, fallen trees and the forecast of snow on higher ground.
