Bail has been refused for a 45-year-old man who is charged with aggravated burglary of a house in Enniskeane on Friday.

A DISTRICT Court Judge has refused bail for a man accused of an aggravated burglary at Derrigra, Enniskeane in the early hours of Friday morning. Thomas O'Neill (45) with an address at Haven Cottage, Farnivane, Bandon appeared at a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court this morning.

Det Gda Kevin Heffernan of Kinsale Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of Thomas O’Neill, or also known as ‘Thomas Savage’, who made no reply to a charge of aggravated burglary.

Det Gda Heffernan told the court that the State was objecting to bail under Section 2 of the Bail Act due to the seriousness of the charge.

Judge King refused bail and he remanded the defendant in custody to appear at a sitting of Cork City District Court on December 29th. Solicitor Myra Dinneen made an application for free legal aid as she told the court her client was unemployed.
