Council to close roads temporarily in Drimoleague

CORK County Council has announced that, under the Roads Act, 1993, it is considering the temporary closing of public roads in West Cork.

CORK County Council has announced that, under the Roads Act, 1993, it is considering the temporary closing of public roads in West Cork.

The announcement involves the following roads for the dates and for the times stated: Road Trotting Races – R586 Drimoleague to Derrynagree East on Tuesday 26th December 2017 from 12 noon until 5pm.

Road to be Closed: The R586 from its junction with the L-8745-0 at Drimoleague Village to its junction with the L-4234-0 at Derrynagree East. An Alternative Route: From Bantry to Dunmanway via the R586. At Drimoleague Village turn right onto the R593.

Continue along R593 to Bawnnahow Cross Roads, Derreeny. At Bawnnahow Cross Roads turn left onto L-4231-0. Continue straight through Bredagh Cross Roads to join L-4231-30. Continue straight through cross roads at Driminidy Wood to join L-4231-51. Continue straight ahead at Minanes Bridge to join the L-4231-71. At Minanes Cross Roads turn left onto L-4234-24.

Continue straight ahead to join L-4234-0 at Killaveenoge West. Continue north west along L-4234-0 to join the R586 at Derrynagree East. At Derrynagree East turn right onto R586 and continue north east to Dunmanway. This alternative route is also applicable in the reverse when travelling from Dunmanway to Bantry.

The Council has also announced that a road in Drimoleague is to be closed from Tuesday December 12th to Saturday December 16th.

The road to be closed is the L-85702-0 from its junction with the L-85703-0 at Knockbue Lower to its junction with the L-85702-57 at Knockbue, Drimoleague.

The closure is for the construction of a cattle under pass.

Any person interested may lodge an objection in writing to the closing of these roads, with the undersigned not later than Wednesday 22nd November 2017 at 5pm. Objections should be sent to Director of Services, Roads & Transportation, Cork County Council, The Courthouse, Skibbereen, Co Cork.
