BANTRY House features prominently in a new Tourism Ireland video highlighting the country's top stately homes, castles and gardens.

The online film gives visitors an insight into Bantry House, as well as a tour of its wonderfully-restored gardens.

The only other tourism attraction in County Cork to feature in the Great Houses, Castles and Gardens of Ireland video is Blarney Castle.

The film was made by Tourism Ireland, the organisation responsible for promoting Ireland overseas, in a bid to encourage potential visitors to visit these destinations and discover for themselves the magnificence of these stately residences.

Sophie Shelswell-White, the manager of Bantry House, told The Southern Star: ‘We are delighted that the video will be promoted to a wider international audience.‘We are lucky here at Bantry House that it is already promoted internationally through the European Broadcasting Union as part of the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, but this new video is definitely an added bonus because it is so visual and appealing.'

At its launch, Tourism Ireland pointed out that tourism is Ireland's largest indigenous industry, and is responsible for in excess of 4% of the country's gross national product.

Last year, for example, approximately 10.3 million overseas visitors travelled to Ireland and delivered revenue of in excess of €5 billion.
