WEST Cork’s favourite eateries have been recognised once again with a big pot full of awards and honours at the Munster final of the Irish Restaurant Awards 2017.

At the awards ceremony in the Limerick Strand Hotel this week, restaurateurs and chefs from across Munster gathered to mark another good year of excellent food and service.

‘Our small island boasts everything from fine dining to high quality gastro pubs, from the exotic taste explosions of world cuisine to the comfort of traditional dishes,’ Adrian Cummins, chief executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) said. ‘ We have an appreciation for what we eat, for the journey of our food from farm to fork, and for the dedication of those working in the food industry to serve up Ireland’s finest food.’

For the West Cork contingent, the evening got off to an excellent start with Pilgrim’s in Rosscarbery taking the top award for best Emerging Irish Cuisine.

This was followed by Manning’s Emporium in Ballylickey receiving the best Casual Dining award and then Graham Norton’s local, Arundels By The Pier, in Ahakista, picked up the Best Gastro Pub award. The Munster Pub of the Year award went to Ma Murphy’s in Bantry.
