West Cork man seriously injured in accident

Transferred by helicopter from Union Hall to Cork University Hospital.

A West Cork man in his 40s is critically ill in Cork University Hospital following an accident at his home near Union Hall this afternoon.

It is understood that he was cutting a tree which fell on him and caused serious injuries.

Having stabilised the casualty, ambulance personnel brought him to the GAA grounds at Union Hall, from where he was transferred by Irish Coast Guard helicopter to CUH, tended on board by Dr Jason van der Velde of West Cork Rapid Response en route.
