CORK South West FF TD, Margaret Murphy O’Mahony, has launched a strong verbal attack on her constituency colleague and his party, Fine Gael TD Jim Daly.

Deputy Murphy O’Mahony said that comments by Deputy Jim Daly, that he favoured the scrapping of the Free Travel Pass, demonstrated the ‘true nature’ of the Fine Gael party.

‘The mask has finally slipped when it comes to Fine Gael and how the country treats the elderly and people with disabilities,’ she said. ‘This is a core social protection benefit for many people,’ she added, ‘and it enables those who rely on it to retain their independence, participate in their communities, and it helps to prevent loneliness and isolation.’

‘I am shocked, but not surprised, by Jim’s comments. Fine Gael TDs have been itching to get back to their right wing roots for some time, and this is the first attempt to claw back the progress that has made over the years,’ she claimed.
