GARDAI have seized 20 ‘high end’ cars in West Cork as part of a national investigation into stolen vehicles.

GARDAI have seized 20 ‘high end’ cars in West Cork as part of a national investigation into stolen vehicles.

The seizure, believed to be worth about €1m in value, was part of Operation Thor and has been ongoing for several days in the West Cork area.

A garda spokesperson said the operation would be continuing for some days.

It is believed the cars were located at a location between Innishannon and Clonakilty.

Gardai, assisted by members from the Stolen Vehicle Investigation Unit (SVIU) and CAB made the seizure today.

It is believed the vehicles were stolen in various counties in the Republic and Northern Ireland and gardai are liaising with the PSNI. Searches are ongoing and there have been no arrests at this time.

A garda added that the investigation is ongoing.
