THE death has taken place of retired secondary schoolteacher and publican Vincent Forbes from Drimoleague, father of RTÉ’s director general, Dee Forbes. Vincent ‘Vin’ Forbes passed away on Wednesday, August 24th, peacefully, at Cork University Hospital.
He was surrounded by his loving wife Mackie and other family members when he passed.
He was father to Deirdre (Dee) and Aodhdín, Eamonn and the late Dorinne, and brother of the late Jim, who passed away recently.
There will be a rosary tonight (Friday) at Daly's funeral home in Chapel Street in Drimoleague, at 8pm. His body will repose on Saturday from 4pm to 6pm, followed by removal to All Saints Church in Drimoleague. Mass will take place on Sunday at 12 noon, with funeral afterwards to the adjoining cemetery. The family have requested family flowers only but donations, if desired, to the dialysis unit of Cork University Hospital.
