CLONAKILTY solicitor Flor McCarthy’s book The Solicitor’s Guide to Marketing and Growing a Business has won the Practical Law Book of the Year at the prestigious annual Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association Law Book Awards.

Flor’s book was published last year and was launched by Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald.  The book has received universally positive reception from the legal profession since its launch.  The book helps small and medium sized solicitors’ practices develop and grow successful businesses.

The book was a finalist in the Law Book of the Year category in the Irish Law Awards in May 2016 and was also shortlisted as Practical Law Book of the Year 2016 at the Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association Law Book Awards.

On Friday June 17th, Flor’s book was selected as Practical Law Book of the Year 2016 by the Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association’s distinguishing judging panel.

The award was presented to Flor by His Excellency Dominick John Chilcott, UK ambassador, at a special ceremony and gala dinner at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin.

The Dublin Solicitors’ Bar Association (DSBA) is the largest bar association in Ireland.  These were the third annual DSBA Law Book Awards which are intended to celebrate the best in legal writing over the previous 12 months.

The impressive shortlist of authors highlighted the breadth of talent in legal writing.  Among the shortlist for the Practical Law Book of the Year category were Dr Thomas Courtney for The Bloomsbury Guide to the Companies Act, 2014, Professor JCW Wylie for The Landlord and Tenant Acts and the Arthur Cox employment law team for their Employment Law Handbook 2015.

Flor’s book was chosen as outright winner in this highly competitive field.

Flor McCarthy is a practising solicitor and managing partner of McCarthy & Co. Solicitors, based in Clonakilty, a niche law firm specialising in personal injury and medical negligence claims nationwide.
