BANTRY’S famous Ma Murphy’s bar is to be central to the third film in the documentary series, A Proper Pint which looks at the role of traditional, family-owned pubs as an essential part of the community in rural Ireland.

The first film, featuring Ó Loclainn’s in Ballyvaughan in Co Clare, has been completed and has done very well on the festivals circuit, showing at the Dublin and Dingle International Film Festivals and numerous locations in the US. The second and third films have been shot and producer/director Keven Siegert expects to have the second – which takes place on Achill Island – completed by the end of August.

It is hoped that the Ma Murphy’s film will be completed by mid-October.

In addition to Siegert, others involved in the production are director of photography Thomas Sawyer and writer Gregory Glanz.
