TWO state-of-the-art new classrooms and a therapy room are to be opened at Schull Community College by local TD Michael Collins in May.

The classrooms, with a universal access WC, were built earlier in the school year and are now being put to full use.

These adjoining general purpose classrooms have a soundproof partition dividing them which can be folded back to create one very large space. This larger room is particularly useful for staff meetings and training and is also used weekly for supervised study for Leaving Cert students. It has also been made available to the local community for meetings, most recently for the Schull Duathlon.

Two Schull Community College students – Stephen Calnan from 5th year and Brian Cahill from 2nd year – will officially open the college therapy room, which has full hoisting capabilities, a movable plinth and a universal access WC.

This is available for students who require physiotherapy or other treatment during the school day.

The college building is now universally accessible, as all external doors have been replaced and are fully ramped for all users. Additionally, the school carpark has two new universal access car parking bays to facilitate students, staff and general public.

The rooms will be officially opened at 2.30pm on May 12th.
