BLACKPUDDING boss Colette Twomey has no immediate plans for her latest purchase – Lisselan Estate – which she recently bought in a €3m deal.

Speaking from Australia, she said, as per last year, the golf club and land will continue to be leased.

Outside of that, she was staying tight-lipped on her intentions for her enchanting French chateau-style estate, complete with fairytale turret, which originally went on the market for €9m.

The hugely successful businesswoman currently lives within a stone’s throw of the €7m food facility she opened in Clonakilty last year.

It’s not known if she’ll move to the sprawling estate on the other side of town herself, or if she plans to develop it.

It would be ideally suited for something like a boutique hotel or for private hire, boasting eight bedrooms and five bathrooms over four floors, 30 acres of Robinsonian gardens by the River Argideen, covering 315 acres in all.

The estate also includes an 80-acre, nine-hole golf course, plus the original ruined homestead of the Henry Ford dynasty.

The main reception rooms are on the ground floor, the principal bedrooms over the first and second floor, with a snooker room (former kitchen) and staff accommodation at lower ground level.

Built in the 1850s, original features that have been retained include excellent ceiling heights, ornate cornicing and ceiling roses, open fireplaces, original wooden flooring and sash windows. The drawing and dining rooms both open to a large terrace but all rooms have views of the impressive gardens.

The estate, sold by Savills, also includes several cottages and outbuildings, a mile of double-bank fishing, a farmyard, and stables.
